Tim Moss is a Practitioner Health Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council, and a Chartered Psychologist based at the Centre for Appearance Research, University of the West of England (UWE). He completed his PhD in the area of individual differences in adjustment to perceived abnormalities of appearance, and continues to be an active researcher in this field. David Harris MS FRCSDavid Harris is Honorary Consultant Plastic Surgeon to Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust. Until his retirement in 1998, he was senior Consultant and Director of the Regional Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery, Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. He specialised in paediatric plastic surgery (cleft lip and palate, hypospadias). He also took a keen interest in establishing cosmetic surgery as a respectable branch of surgical practice and promoted the importance of defining clinical need and therapeutic effectiveness through the development of the Derriford Appearance Scales. David was a founder member and former President of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).

Tony Carr - BSc(Hons) PhD DClinPsychol CPsychol AFBPsSTony Carr was, along with David Harris, the originator of the DAS project. His expertise as a clinical psychologist were in training - establishing the country's first Doctorate in Clinical Psychology - and in assessment in clinical practice and the matching of treatment to particular needs. Until retiring, Tony was Head of the Sub-Department of Clinical Psychology at the University of Plymouth. It is with great sadness that we report that Tony died in April 2005.
